Is Assistance League for you?
Membership in Assistance League
Assistance League has over 200 members from all walks of life, but all share a common purpose – working together to meet the needs of our community. Members contribute to the organization in a variety of ways, from hours spent on our philanthropic programs to fundraising efforts in support of those programs to administrative duties behind the scenes. We have great pride in what we do, and while we work hard to reach our goals, we also strive to create a pleasant and rewarding atmosphere for our members.
The women of our chapter welcome new members who would like to help in our ongoing work to make our community a better place. Members are expected to contribute a minimum of fifty hours per year on philanthropic programs and fundraising activities. Some financial responsibilities are also associated with membership. Annual dues currently range from $50 to $75 each year, and each new member is assessed a small fee to cover items like a name tag, a house key, and a chapter handbook. Meetings are held monthly from September through May, except in December.
We have a formal membership drive in late spring, but we welcome new members throughout the year. During the first year of membership, the chapter's President-Elect facilitates an orientation for new members. Each new member is also paired with a current member who acts as a mentor to guide her through the chapter’s activities. The new member class works together on a project, promoting a feeling of service and friendship.
Each spring we hold a coffee and open house for prospective members. Detailed information about the chapter is offered at that time. For more details about the coffee or for more information about membership in our organization, please e-mail us at info@alcorvallis.org or call 757-1978.
