In early 2009, we learned that some local families do not have health and hygiene supplies required to meet basic needs. Our immediate response was “What can we do?” The answer to this question is a new program which provides paper products, feminine hygiene supplies, head-lice shampoo, soap, and related items to those who need them. We also give laundry cards.
The program, Hygiene Help, based at Harding Center, serves all of the 509J school district and is administered by 509J’s Community Outreach liaison. The lack of such basic items can prevent students from staying healthy and attending school regularly. We’re going to change that!
